Who We Are

Desert Biofuels Initiative was founded by Eric Johnson and Brad Biddle; Eric currently serves as operations director and Brad as policy director. Sam West rounds out the core team and directs special projects for us.

Mark Edwards is a key advisor and partner on several projects.  Mark leads our sister site GreenIndependence.org.

Rick Berry has generously provided pro bono legal counsel, and without his efforts DBI would not exist. Rick, Eric and Brad constitute the board of directors for DBI.

We're very grateful to our strategic advisors:

Francine Hardaway is first among equals: she provided invaluable early guidance and continues to be a great friend to our effort.

Dave Conz shares his wisdom with us directly and as a highly-valued contributor to our blog.

Hans Huth, unparalled homebrew biodiesel expert and insightful analyst of the AZ regulatory environment.

Kathy Sacks, PR genius.

Andrew "Sandy" Askland, legal genius.

Dan O'Neill, entrepreneurial coach (we loved his ASU Technopolis class!) and sustainability expert.

John Benner, Joomla and WikiMedia wiz, and the only web developer we know without a website :-)

We're also grateful to our friends who have been so supportive of our efforts, just a few of whom are listed below:

Colleen Crowinshield of the Tucson Clean Cities Coalition; Gene Leach and Jay Nance of Dynamite Biofuels Co-op; Dan Rees of AZ Biodiesel; Eric Menkhus of the ASU Technology Ventures Services Group; Max Enterline and Victor Merino from the City of Phoenix; James Towner of AZSustainability.org; Mike Bellefuille of XL Renewables, Jeff Collier of Energy Derived, and many, many more!

And a special thanks to the creative team at OVO for our beautiful logo!
